Viking Libra enters service in 2026 as part of the Viking Ocean Cruises fleet, stretching 239 metres and welcoming up to 998 guests. Here is what to know before you read further:
Sailings cover the Western and Eastern Mediterranean in 2026 and 2027, Norway, Transatlantic crossings and the British Isles, departing from ports including Barcelona, Rome (Civitavecchia), Greenwich (London), Lisbon and Bergen.
Viking Libra carries eight distinct dining venues, spanning complimentary main dining to speciality restaurants where à la carte or cover charges apply.
The Restaurant is the ship's main dining room, framed by floor-to-ceiling ocean windows and included in your cruise fare. World Café takes an open-kitchen approach, with live cooking, international dishes and premium sushi and seafood — guests can eat inside or step out onto the Aquavit Terrace®, the alfresco dining deck that sits directly above the water. The Pool Grill keeps things casual with freshly prepared poolside dishes and a small salad bar, also included in your fare.
For complimentary afternoon tea — finger sandwiches, fresh scones, pastries and classical music — the Wintergarden beside the main pool is the place to go. Mamsen's®, located within the Explorers' Lounge, serves Norwegian specialities from breakfast through dinner at no extra charge, honouring the Nordic heritage that runs through the fleet.
Speciality dining carries separate charges. Manfredi's Italian Restaurant® recreates a trattoria atmosphere with authentic Italian cuisine and a private dining room option. The Chef's Table offers a multi-course tasting menu with sommelier-paired wines. The Kitchen Table is an interactive culinary experience built around regional ingredients and local food culture — confirm inclusions when booking.
Viking Libra gives guests several distinct spaces to settle into between ports. The Living Room is the social heart of the ship: generous seating, live classical music from the Viking Resident Musicians and curated activities — entry is free, with beverages charged separately. Torshavn® channels the golden age of jazz lounges, ideal for cocktails and live music in the evening.
The Explorers' Lounge is a two-storey space with panoramic windows framing the ocean, drawing on the imagery of historic voyages of discovery. The Atrium functions as a central meeting point, while the Clinker Bar — set within the Living Room atrium — evokes a Nordic longship aesthetic. All carry separate beverage charges unless covered by a package.
Two pools define the onboard leisure offer. The Main Pool with Retractable Roof means year-round swimming regardless of weather, and in the evening a large poolside screen shows films under the open sky. The Infinity Pool — described as one of the first of its kind at sea — features floor-to-ceiling windows that dissolve the boundary between ship and horizon, with a hot tub alongside; both are included in your fare.
The Nordic Spa is an open-access wellness space: the sauna and snow grotto are complimentary, while individual treatments and classes carry a charge. The Fitness Center provides treadmills, elliptical machines, exercise bikes and open space for yoga and pilates; equipment use is complimentary, with some classes charged separately. A Hair Salon offers a full menu of styling services, including the Royal Nordic Hair Ritual, at a separate charge.
The Theater seats up to 450 guests and screens lectures, films and TED Talks; it can also be configured as two HD cinemas. Admission is included in your fare. The Sports Deck offers a running track, boccie, mini golf and shuffleboard — all included — with guided classes such as yoga available at an additional charge.
Viking Libra's accommodation ranges from well-appointed staterooms to a landmark suite. Full layouts and deck plans are on the Viking Libra cabins and deck plans page.
The itinerary range covers some of Europe's most celebrated sailing grounds. The Western Mediterranean accounts for the largest share of sailings, with Barcelona the most frequent departure port — browse cruises from Barcelona in 2026 and 2027. The Eastern Mediterranean includes Athens (Piraeus) departures; see Greek island cruises from Athens for what's available. Transatlantic crossings and Norway sailings round out the programme, alongside British Isles voyages departing from Greenwich (London).

Every sailing on Viking Libra departing from Barcelona, Rome, London, Lisbon, Bergen or Athens involves a flight from Australia — which means the cruise sits in the middle of a longer trip. CruiseAway's DreamAway Packages bundle the cruise, return flights, hotel stays either side and transfers into a single booking, so nothing is left to piece together separately.
Our cruise experts know these itineraries and can help you match the right cabin grade and fare inclusions to your travel style. And every booking is covered by our Best Price Guarantee — Viking Ocean Cruises' newest ship, booked with confidence.
If you're weighing up your options, the ships below sail from the same European ports and visit many of the same countries — no flight change required.
If you'd like to stay within the Viking Ocean Cruises fleet, other ships to consider include Viking Sea, Viking Star, Viking Sky, Viking Astrild, Viking Forseti and Viking Ullur.
Viking Libra is a 2026 newbuild, making her one of the newest ships in the Viking Ocean Cruises fleet. Sailings currently on sale depart from late September 2026 onward.
Guests booked into a Penthouse Veranda Stateroom (PV) gain priority access to shore-excursion reservations 147 days before sailing, giving them first pick of the most popular experiences in each port.
Access to The Nordic Spa — including the sauna and snow grotto — is complimentary. Individual treatments, such as massages or specialist classes, carry a separate charge. The Fitness Center is also complimentary to use, though some fitness classes are charged additionally.
Yes. Because all current sailings depart from European ports, Australian guests will need to fly. CruiseAway's DreamAway Packages combine the cruise fare with return flights, accommodation either side and transfers, so the full trip is on one booking.
Manfredi's Italian Restaurant® and The Chef's Table both carry à la carte or cover charges. The Kitchen Table is an interactive dining experience — confirm whether it is included or charged when you book. The Restaurant, World Café, Pool Grill, Wintergarden and Mamsen's® are all included in the cruise fare.
