The short answer: everywhere. The 2026 cruise programme covers the Caribbean, South East Asia, coastal Australia, Japan, transatlantic crossings, the South Pacific, the western Mediterranean and beyond. The majority of sailings involve a flight to your departure port — Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Barcelona, Rome and Southampton are the busiest embarkation points — and CruiseAway can book those flights, pre-cruise hotels and transfers alongside your cruise so you arrive ready to board. A small number of sailings depart from Australian ports: if you’re local, you walk on without a flight; from another state, a short domestic hop is all it takes.
Based on what’s actually selling, the Caribbean leads the way for 2026. Island-hopping itineraries run from Florida’s ports, with round trips and one-way voyages available. If a sailing finishes in a different port from where it began, a domestic US connection brings you back — we can book that too.
Australia sailings are a strong second, ranging from coastal itineraries to round-Australia voyages. The South Pacific is a natural extension, with island itineraries departing from east-coast ports. New Zealand also features, with scenic sailing through fjords and between the two main islands — a popular add-on or standalone voyage for Australian travellers. And then there’s South East Asia: Singapore and Hong Kong are key hubs, with itineraries threading through the region’s ports. If you’re after a cruise from Singapore to Australia in 2026, sailings connect the two in a single voyage.
Japan is one of the standout long-haul options for 2026, with sailings from Yokohama (Tokyo) and other ports. Japan cruises in 2026 range from 2 weeks to longer voyages, giving you enough time to take in multiple ports. Transatlantic crossings make up a significant share of the programme — these are largely one-way voyages linking Europe and the Americas, well worth pairing with a pre- or post-cruise stay. The South America and western Mediterranean regions round out the long-haul options, with departures from Barcelona and Rome (Civitavecchia).
Several major lines have strong 2026 programmes. MSC Cruises carries the largest volume of 2026 sailings available through CruiseAway. Royal Caribbean is a firm favourite, with a wide spread of Caribbean and international itineraries. Norwegian Cruise Line brings a freestyle dining and drinks approach, while Princess Cruises — with a dedicated 2026/2027 Australia season launch — offers strong options for sailing close to home. Carnival Cruise Lines and Viking River Cruises also feature. Note that 2 of the sailings in the mix are river cruises; the great majority are ocean sailings.
Here’s a closer look at some of the ships with the most 2026 sailings available.
If you want a talking point before you’ve even unpacked, MSC World Europa has an 11-deck stainless steel dry slide — the longest of its kind at sea. Beyond that, the ship runs a Guinness World Records arena, bumper cars, and a Nordic chef’s table for something more considered. For cabin choices on MSC World Europa, the options run from a 15 m² Inside cabin (Bella I1, sleeping up to 4) all the way through to the 104 m² MSC Yacht Club Owner’s Suite with floor-to-ceiling windows. See the full range on the MSC World Europa cabins and deck plans page.
MSC Magnifica is the only ship in the MSC fleet with a genuine halotherapy salt grotto inside the Aurea Spa — something you won’t find on most ships. The main theatre seats 1,200 and runs Broadway-style productions alongside 4D cinema. Guests who want a quieter world within the ship can book into the MSC Yacht Club for a private pool, restaurant and butler service. Cabin grades on MSC Magnifica span from a 13 m² Inside (Bella I1) to the 35 m² Suite Aurea SP3 — full details on the MSC Magnifica cabins and deck plans page.
MSC Preziosa is built to impress from the moment you step aboard — crystal staircases and an Italianate piazza set the tone. Sea days fill quickly: there’s a 120 m waterslide, 4D movies, a Formula 1 simulator and theatre shows. The MSC Yacht Club option here runs to a 40 m² Executive & Family Suite with a separate living room. Browse all grades on the MSC Preziosa cabins and deck plans page.
MSC Virtuosa’s most-photographed feature is Rob — the world’s first robotic humanoid bartender at sea, fluent in 8 languages and ready to mix a cocktail. Beyond him, 7 specialty restaurants mean a different dinner every night of a week-long voyage. The Galleria, with its sweeping LED sky, live music and boutiques, is where evenings begin. Check the MSC Virtuosa cabins and deck plans for grades and pricing.
Azura completed a full interior refresh in 2025, with renewed restaurants, bars and cabins. The 800-seat Playhouse stages West End-quality aerial productions, and the Glass House — curated by TV wine expert Olly Smith — is worth a visit for wine pairings matched to your meal. SeaScreen brings open-air cinema on deck. See the Azura cabins and deck plans for what’s available.
MSC Sinfonia is an intimate Lirica-class ship with 94 balcony cabins, a top-deck water park and an enlarged Aurea Spa. Its smaller size means it can call at ports that larger ships can’t reach — you see a different side of any itinerary. Families do well here, with dedicated children’s zones and Broadway-style evening shows. The MSC Sinfonia cabins and deck plans page has the full cabin breakdown.
Fare structures vary by cruise line, and picking the right one makes a real difference to what you get for your money.
Royal Caribbean offers several fare types — a base cruise fare, a solo/single occupancy rate, and promotional fare types such as last-minute offers and early booking bonuses. Our cruise experts can tell you which is best suited to your travel dates.
Norwegian Cruise Line lets you choose how much to include upfront. The base brochure fare is the cruise only — nothing added. The NCLATSEA package layers in a premium beverage package, specialty dining, Wi-Fi and shore excursion credits per port. The NCLATSEAPLUS tier expands on that with even more dining flexibility across Norwegian’s specialty restaurants. The right choice depends on how much you tend to spend at sea.
Princess Cruises offers a Standard fare (the cruise itself, with packages available to add on) and the Princess Plus package — which bundles 4 casual dining meals per voyage, beverages up to A$15 per drink with a daily limit of 15, MedallionNet Max Wi-Fi, pre-paid crew appreciation, unlimited digital photographs plus 3 prints, and reserved theatre seating. The Princess Cruises 2025/2026 Australia & New Zealand itineraries page covers the full programme in detail.
Sydney is the busiest Australian home port, with sailings to coastal destinations, Tasmania and across to New Zealand. December is particularly busy — if you’re looking at Christmas cruises from Sydney in 2026 or any December sailing from Sydney, early booking is worthwhile. For something specific to the city and its surrounding waters, the Sydney cruises hub has options by duration and destination.
Brisbane is a strong alternative home port, with Brisbane cruise options covering the South Pacific and Australian coast. Short cruises from Brisbane in 2026 are a good entry point if you’re new to cruising or working with a fixed window. If Christmas at sea appeals from a Queensland port, the Christmas cruises from Brisbane page has what’s available.
Miami and Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades) are about half an hour apart, so a Florida-based Caribbean cruise can sail from either — it’s worth checking both for dates and prices. Both ports handle year-round Caribbean itineraries and are easily reached from Australia via a single connection. CruiseAway can book flights into one city and out of the other on a one-way itinerary, which often works out neater than doubling back.
A meaningful share of 2026 sailings are one-way repositioning voyages — ships crossing the Atlantic, moving between seasons, or connecting regions as they reposition for the next programme. These are longer voyages (some running well beyond 2 weeks) and are often priced attractively. Because one end is typically in Europe or the Americas, CruiseAway packages the flights and any hotel nights either side as a complete trip rather than leaving you to sort the return independently. Repositioning cruises in 2026 has the full selection.
Spending New Year’s Eve on the water — whether in Sydney Harbour, the Caribbean or the South Pacific — is one of those things that’s hard to forget. The New Year’s Eve cruise 2026 page has dedicated sailings for the occasion, and the Christmas cruises Australia 2026 page covers the broader festive season afloat.
Most 2026 cruises for Australian travellers involve an international flight, which means there’s a holiday on either side of the ship. CruiseAway’s DreamAway Packages bring the cruise, flights, pre- and post-cruise hotels, transfers and tours under one booking — you deal with 1 team, not 4 suppliers. Our cruise experts handle the cabin grade and fare inclusions too, which is where the real value of booking with a specialist over a cruise line’s own site shows up. And our Best Price Guarantee means if you find the same sailing cheaper elsewhere, we want to know about it.
Planning to sail around Australia in 2027 instead, or want to compare the two years? The cruise around Australia 2027 programme is already open for bookings. For a broader look at everything on sale, the Australian cruises hub and the value cruise deals pages are good starting points. See also our 2026 cruise deals page for the latest reduced-fare sailings.
