What is a DreamAway Package from Sydney?

A DreamAway Package is a cruise-inclusive bundle built by CruiseAway’s own team. Rather than booking a bare sailing and then hunting for flights, accommodation and transfers separately, you get everything confirmed on one itinerary — the cruise itself, flights to or from the ship, hotels before or after, and any transfers in between. The starting price is A$2,599 pp*, and sailings run from spring through to late autumn and beyond, covering durations from a fortnight to a grand voyage of more than three months.

Most sailings on these packages are one-way. That is worth knowing before you plan: 17 of the 19 departures finish at a different port to Sydney — Singapore, Tokyo, Auckland, Honolulu or Cairns — so a domestic or international flight home is part of the trip. CruiseAway can book that return leg too, along with any hotels you want either side.

Where do these cruises go?

The range is genuinely wide. Whether you want a classic South Pacific island hop, a deep dive into Australian waters, or an epic crossing to the Americas or Asia, there is a departure here for you. Here is how the destinations break down.

Close to home — Australia, the South Pacific and New Zealand

The biggest group of packages keeps things relatively close to Sydney. Several sailings explore Australian coastal waters, calling at ports up and down the eastern and northern seaboard — a wonderful way to see your own country from the sea. If you want islands and sunshine, the South Pacific delivers: coral waters, laid-back ports and a pace that feels a world away from the ordinary, with departures heading out to Lautoka, Fiji and beyond. Cruises from Sydney to Fiji are popular for good reason — the crossing itself is part of the experience. For something a little different, a handful of itineraries cross the Tasman to New Zealand, finishing in Auckland; these Sydney to New Zealand sailings are a favourite for travellers who want dramatic coastal scenery without a long-haul flight. French Polynesia also features, for those who want to push further into the Pacific.

The long haul — Transpacific crossings and round-the-world voyages

If you are ready for something more ambitious, the Transpacific departures are among the most compelling voyages available from Sydney. These sailings cross the Pacific Ocean, finishing at ports such as Honolulu, San Francisco or Vancouver, Canada — a genuine ocean adventure that covers thousands of nautical miles. Sydney to Hawaii sailings give you the crossing and the destination in one; the Transpacific route is one of the great classic voyages. There is also a round-the-world option for travellers who want the full experience, with the itinerary calling at ports across multiple continents.

For sailings ending in Asia, several packages finish in Singapore or Tokyo — natural endpoints for a fly-home or an extended stay. CruiseAway can book the flight, hotels and transfers at either end so nothing is left hanging.

How do you get to the Sydney cruise terminal?

Sydney’s cruise terminal sits close to the central business district, making it straightforward to reach from most parts of the city. If you are local to Sydney, you may be able to drive or take public transport directly to the terminal — no flight needed at all. If you are travelling from interstate — Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth or anywhere else — a domestic flight into Sydney is typically the simplest option, and it is a far shorter journey than flying long-haul to a foreign embarkation port. CruiseAway can add that domestic flight, a hotel the night before, and a transfer to the pier so you arrive relaxed and ready. On a one-way voyage that ends in another city, we book the return domestic flight home as part of the same package.

Which ships sail on DreamAway Packages from Sydney?

Several well-regarded ships feature across these packages. Here is what each one offers.

Grand Princess — Princess Cruises

Grand Princess carries 4 sailings on these packages, with a strong focus on Australian coastal routes. On deck, the Movies Under the Stars screen means you can curl up under a blanket and watch a film while the Great Barrier Reef slips past. The Princess app lets you order cocktails by the pool or pizza to your cabin without queuing — a small thing that makes a real difference across a long voyage. Adults wanting a quieter retreat will find it in The Sanctuary, an adults-only top-deck space with sun loungers, light meals and uninterrupted ocean views above the Coral Sea.

Grand Princess cabins and deck plans cover four main grades:

  • Inside cabin IA — 14.9 m², sleeps up to 4, positioned on middle decks for minimal motion and easy access to lifts and facilities
  • Premium sea view O3 — 19.1 m², sleeps up to 4, floor-to-ceiling panoramic window with an unobstructed sea view flooding the cabin with natural light
  • Premium Balcony cabin B2 — 25.5 m², sleeps up to 4, floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors and an open-plan feel that standard balcony cabins do not match
  • Grand Suite S1 with private hot tub — 67.8 m², sleeps up to 4, the largest suite on board with considerably more space than any other category

Norwegian Spirit — Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Spirit accounts for 4 sailings, covering the South Pacific and New Zealand with a relaxed, freestyle approach to dining and daily schedules. Spend afternoons at Spice H2O, the adults-only open-air beach club where cocktails and sea breezes come as standard. When you are ready to eat, Cagney’s Steakhouse and Le Bistro are both on board — dine whenever suits you, rather than at a fixed sitting — and the Stardust Theatre has live entertainment each evening.

See the full Norwegian Spirit cabin and deck plans. The main grades are:

  • Family Inside cabin I4 — 13.8 m², sleeps up to 4, useful extra sleeping room for larger groups or families
  • Deluxe Sea-view cabin O3 — 26.7 m², sleeps up to 3, the largest sea-view grade on board at nearly twice the size of a standard ocean-view cabin
  • Balcony cabin BA — 15.9 m², sleeps up to 3, a private balcony with sea views that interior and ocean-view grades simply cannot offer
  • Owner’s Suite SB with private aft balcony — 56.2 m², sleeps 2, separate bedroom, living and dining area, and a walk-in wardrobe for the most private experience on board

Royal Princess — Princess Cruises

Royal Princess brings 3 packages to the list, sailing Australian waters with a roster of signature touches. The SeaWalk extends 40 metres out over the ocean from the ship’s side — a glass-bottomed walkway with nothing but blue water beneath your feet — and The Sanctuary’s adults-only retreat offers the same peaceful top-deck atmosphere as Grand Princess. Evening entertainment includes Movies Under the Stars on deck, duelling pianos at Crooners, and a dancing fountain light show.

The Royal Princess cabin and deck plans offer:

  • Inside cabin IA — 15.4 m², sleeps up to 4, the most affordable entry point with minibar, safe and desk included
  • Sea-view cabin O6 — 20 m², sleeps up to 4, large panoramic window with a forward-facing view and natural daylight that inside cabins cannot provide
  • Deluxe Balcony cabin DA — 23.4 m², sleeps up to 4, a private balcony ideal for breakfast or sundowners at sea
  • Penthouse Suite S3 with aft balcony — 54.5 m², sleeps up to 4, the largest cabin on board with significantly more living space than any other grade

Azamara Pursuit — Azamara

With 2 sailings on these packages, Azamara Pursuit takes a boutique approach that larger ships cannot replicate. Just 777 guests means an attentive crew who know your name by the second day, and front-row access at every port. Overnight and late-night port stays are built into the itinerary, giving you time to actually explore a destination rather than simply glimpse it from the dock. Included in every fare is a private cultural evening ashore — symphony concerts, vineyard dinners and similar events that are exclusive to Azamara guests. See Azamara Pursuit cabins and deck plans to choose your grade before you book.

Westerdam — Holland America Line

Westerdam features on 2 packages, carrying 1,916 guests in a mid-sized format that prioritises craftsmanship and genuine service. Guests consistently rate the crew 4.5 out of 5 stars, which tells you something about the atmosphere on board. The Crow’s Nest panorama lounge is the place for a sunset craft cocktail, and Billboard Onboard brings live music to the evenings. Explore the Westerdam cabin and deck plans for the full range of grades and layouts.

Carnival Luminosa — Carnival Cruise Line

Carnival Luminosa carries 1 sailing on these packages. Note that while this page covers departures from Sydney, Carnival Luminosa’s itinerary also departs from Brisbane, taking in the Great Barrier Reef, Airlie Beach, Fiji and Vanuatu — some of the best-value local itineraries available from the eastern seaboard. Evenings run from the Punchliner Comedy Club to live music and 80s Glow deck parties, and the fun-first atmosphere suits families and groups equally well. Check the Carnival Luminosa cabin and deck plans to find the right space for your group.

What does a DreamAway Package include?

Every DreamAway Package is built around the cruise itself, with extras added to suit your trip. Depending on what you need, CruiseAway’s team can include:

  • Flights — domestic or international, to join the ship or to get home after a one-way voyage
  • Hotels — before embarkation, after disembarkation, or both
  • Transfers — between the terminal, your hotel and any onward transport
  • Tours — pre- or post-cruise excursions in the ports your voyage touches
  • Train travel and insurance — added to the same booking where needed

Three of the sailings on these packages are all-inclusive fares, covering drinks and extras on board. Our cruise experts will walk you through which fare inclusions make sense for your travel style — it is often worth upgrading, but not always, and that is the kind of call a specialist can help you make that a cruise line’s own website cannot.

Why book a bundled Sydney cruise with CruiseAway?

Booking a package through CruiseAway rather than piecing the trip together yourself has a few concrete advantages. Our Best Price Guarantee means that if you find a lower price for the same sailing elsewhere after booking, we will match it. Our cruise experts know these ships and routes closely — not just which itineraries exist, but which cabin grades genuinely suit a couple travelling light versus a family of four, and which fare types deliver the best value for the duration you are looking at.

Because most of these voyages are one-way, the logistics matter: a sailing that ends in Singapore or Tokyo needs a flight home, possibly a night’s hotel, and a transfer or two. When that is all on one booking with one point of contact, it is a very different experience to managing it yourself across three or four separate suppliers. CruiseAway handles the whole holiday — and that is worth something, especially on a long voyage.

You can also browse all cruises we offer if you want to compare a broader range of sailings before narrowing to a package.

Sailings with a short lead time

If your dates are approaching quickly, last-minute cruises from Sydney may suit — some of the best fares appear close to departure. Our team can turn a booking around quickly, including any flights and hotels needed at short notice.

Christmas and summer departures from Sydney

Sailings over the Australian summer are among the most popular departures on the Sydney calendar. Christmas cruises from Sydney in 2026 are a strong option for families who want to combine the festive season with time at sea — and on a one-way voyage finishing in a Pacific port, you can extend the break with a few nights ashore before flying home. CruiseAway can arrange the whole trip, including the return flight.

Exploring further afield from Sydney

If you are weighing up different routes, a few related pages are worth a look. Sydney to New Zealand sailings in 2027 and cruises from Sydney to the South Pacific both cover narrower slices of what is, with more depth on those specific routes. For a longer commitment, Princess round-the-world cruises are worth considering — Grand Princess and Royal Princess both feature on those itineraries. And if you are open to joining a ship mid-voyage, cruises from Singapore to Sydney run in the opposite direction on some of the same routes.

For New Zealand cruise packages specifically, the New Zealand cruise packages page covers that combination in its own right. The Princess Cruises Australia 2026–2027 season launch is also worth a look if Princess itineraries are at the top of your list — it covers the full Australian season programme in detail.

*Prices are per person based on 2 people sharing, and are subject to change. This price is not kept up to date and therefore does not reflect live pricing and availability. Prices and any discounts shown were checked on 14 October 2026.
