Sydney to Hawaii cruises in 2027: what’s on offer

These sailings cross some of the most dramatic ocean on the planet — the Transpacific route from Sydney pushes out across the South Pacific, calling through French Polynesia or Fiji before reaching Hawaii, and on the longest voyages continuing all the way to the US West Coast, Tokyo or Vancouver. Durations run from 14 nights at the shorter end to 79 nights for round-the-world voyages, with a median of around 29 nights. That gives you real range, from a four-week Pacific crossing to an epic voyage spanning three continents.

One thing to know before you book: almost every sailing here is one-way. Only 2 of the sailings return to Sydney; the remaining 18 end somewhere different — Honolulu, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver or Tokyo. That means you’ll need a flight home from the other end, which our team can book as part of the same package so there’s nothing left to arrange yourself.

Where do Sydney to Hawaii cruises go?

Close to home — French Polynesia and Fiji

The most popular routes from Sydney head first through the South Pacific before reaching Hawaii. Hawaii sailings that take in French Polynesia spend time among some of the most visited island groups in the Pacific, making the crossing feel like several holidays in one. A handful of itineraries also call through Fiji on the way, adding another South Pacific stop before the long ocean passage north. If you want the full Pacific island experience on the way to Hawaii, these routes are the ones to look at — give them the most space in your planning.

The long haul — Transpacific and round-the-world

Transpacific cruises make up the biggest share of what’s. These are proper ocean crossings — long, unhurried days at sea broken by island stops — and they end in ports including Honolulu, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Vancouver. A smaller number continue into Asia, finishing in Tokyo. For travellers who want the full Pacific crossing — where the journey itself is the point — these are the sailings to consider.

For the genuinely adventurous, 2 round-the-world sailings are also available departing Sydney, calling at ports across multiple continents before their voyage ends. These are the longest options on the page, and they suit anyone who wants to turn a cruise into a proper life event.

Which cruise lines sail from Sydney to Hawaii?

Princess Cruises is the most active line on this route, with the strongest spread of departure dates and itineraries throughout 2027. Celebrity Cruises, MSC Cruises and Carnival Cruise Lines each have sailings here too, as does Holland America Line. If you want to book a full package — cruise, flights, hotels and transfers — look at the DreamAway Packages, which are built specifically to wrap everything into one price.

Which ships are sailing?

Royal Princess carries the largest share of Princess Cruises departures. The ship is best known for its glass-bottomed SeaWalk — a walkway that extends 40 metres over the ocean so you’re looking straight down at the sea. The adults-only Sanctuary retreat on deck gives you a quieter place to be once you’re back on board, with stewards, sun loungers and ocean views. Evenings bring Movies Under the Stars, duelling pianos at Crooners, and a fountain light show. For cabin options on Royal Princess, see the Royal Princess cabins and deck plans:

  • Inside cabin IA — 15.4 m², sleeps up to 4, the most affordable way onto the ship with minibar, safe and desk
  • Sea-view cabin O6 — 20 m², sleeps up to 4, a large panoramic forward-facing window for natural light and open-ocean views
  • Deluxe Balcony cabin DA — 23.4 m², sleeps up to 4, a private balcony for breakfast or sundowners that interior grades can’t offer
  • Penthouse Suite S3 with aft balcony — 54.5 m², sleeps up to 4, the largest cabin on board with significantly more living space than all other grades

Grand Princess is the other major Princess ship, with Movies Under the Stars on deck and the Princess app letting you order food and drinks anywhere on the ship without queuing. The adults-only Sanctuary on the top deck is a calm alternative to the main pool area. Cabin options for Grand Princess are detailed on the Grand Princess cabins and deck plans page:

  • Inside cabin IA — 14.9 m², sleeps up to 4, positioned on middle decks for minimal motion and easy access to facilities
  • Premium sea view O3 — 19.1 m², sleeps up to 4, floor-to-ceiling panoramic window with unobstructed sea views
  • Premium Balcony cabin B2 — 25.5 m², sleeps up to 4, floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors for an open-plan feel
  • Grand Suite S1 with private hot tub — 67.8 m², sleeps up to 4, the largest suite on board

Carnival Luminosa brings a fun-first atmosphere suited to families and groups. The Punchliner Comedy Club runs nightly, live music plays across multiple venues, and themed deck parties — including 80s Glow nights — give every evening its own character. Cabin grades on Carnival Luminosa are set out on the Carnival Luminosa cabins and deck plans page:

  • Inside cabin 4A — 14 m², sleeps up to 4, quieter lower-to-middle deck positions with less ship motion
  • Inside cabin with window 4K — 17 m², sleeps up to 4, floor-to-ceiling windows with partial views, more natural light than a standard inside cabin
  • Balcony cabin with extended balcony 8J — 31 m², sleeps up to 2, 10 m² more outdoor space than a standard balcony
  • Vista Suite GV — 53 m², sleeps up to 2, the largest suite category on board

MSC Magnifica offers a distinctly European atmosphere, with a 1,200-seat theatre for large-scale productions and a 4D cinema. The Aurea Spa includes a genuine halotherapy salt grotto unique to this class of ship, and the MSC Yacht Club provides an exclusive enclave — private pool, private restaurant and butler service — within the larger ship for those who want a more private experience. See the MSC Magnifica cabins and deck plans for full grade details.

Celebrity Edge is well suited to the long Pacific crossing. Its signature feature is the Magic Carpet — a cantilevered deck structure that moves between floors and becomes an al fresco dining venue suspended 16 storeys above the water. The Infinite Veranda cabins open the entire cabin wall so the ocean air fills the room. Eden, the ship’s three-level living garden space, hosts live performances in a setting unlike anything else at sea. Full cabin grades are on the Celebrity Edge cabins and deck plans page.

What fare types are available?

Princess Cruises offers 2 main tiers on these sailings. The Princess Standard fare is the base cruise price with dining, drinks, Wi-Fi and gratuities available to add on. The Princess Plus fare bundles those essentials — 4 casual dining meals per voyage, beverages up to A$15 each (up to 15 per day), MedallionNet Max Wi-Fi, pre-paid crew appreciation, unlimited digital photos plus 3 prints, and reserved theatre seating — into one price from the start. For those who want everything sorted upfront, Plus is the more straightforward option.

Celebrity Cruises gives you a choice of 3 tiers: a base rate where you add extras yourself; an All Inclusive fare that bundles a classic drinks package and basic Wi-Fi; and The Retreat, which covers premium drinks, premium Wi-Fi, suite accommodation, exclusive lounge and sundeck access, private dining and dedicated personal service.

For Royal Caribbean fare types such as last-minute offers and early-booking bonuses, our cruise experts can explain which apply to specific sailings and help you choose the one that suits your plans.

Are there any current deals?

A number of sailings carry reduced prices, with discounts of up to 14% off the price previously listed for that cabin grade on that sailing. That maximum applies to a small number of departures; most discounted sailings are reduced by a similar margin, so it’s worth checking individual dates with our team. Our Best Price Guarantee means that if you find the same sailing cheaper elsewhere, we’ll match it.

How do I get to the ship from anywhere in Australia?

All these sailings depart from Sydney. If you’re based in Sydney, you can board without any domestic travel at all — drive or take public transport to the wharf and step straight on. If you’re coming from another state, a short domestic flight into Sydney is the easiest way to connect to the ship, and our team can include that in the same booking so it’s all arranged together.

Because nearly all itineraries are one-way and end in a port outside Australia, you’ll also need a flight home from wherever the voyage finishes. We can book that too, along with any hotels at either end and transfers, as part of a single DreamAway Package.

Make it a full holiday

We’re cruise specialists — every fare we offer is a cruise or a cruise-inclusive package. Our team can build in flights, hotels, tours, transfers, travel insurance and more, whether you want a simple bundle or a fully custom itinerary around your cruise. Call us or book online, and we’ll handle the details.

Thinking about the reverse direction? Cruises from Hawaii to Australia in 2027 are also available if you’d rather board in Hawaii and arrive back in Sydney.

Other Sydney cruises to consider in 2027

If you’re open to other Pacific destinations from Sydney, cruises from Sydney to Fiji and cruises from Sydney to the South Pacific cover a lot of the same ocean. Cruises from Sydney to Auckland are another popular choice for a shorter Pacific voyage. For departures earlier in the year, cruises from Sydney in January 2027 and cruises from Sydney in April 2027 are both worth a look, as are Christmas cruises from Sydney in 2027 if timing suits.

Princess Cruises’ Australia 2026–2027 season covers the full range of Princess itineraries including these Pacific crossings, and the Princess 2027–2028 season launch extends that further. For Princess options from a different port, Princess Cruises from Brisbane in 2027 includes some of the same ships sailing north from Queensland. If you’d like to see everything available from Australia in 2027, the cruises around Australia 2027 hub is a good starting point, or browse the full 2027 cruises listing.

Where a discount is shown, it is a reduction from the price previously listed for that cabin grade on that sailing, not a comparison between cabin grades or against a brochure rate. Discounts and prices shown are not kept up to date: the reduction available now may be smaller, or may have ended, and prices may have changed.
