Viking Sigrun launched in 2019 and sails for Viking River Cruises, carrying up to 190 guests with a crew of 53 — a ratio that makes for attentive, personal service throughout. She measures 135 metres in length and holds 95 cabins across her decks. Her godmother is Wendy Atkin-Smith. Sailings currently on sale take her along the Rhine and Danube rivers in Western Europe, with departures of up to nine nights.
Whether you join her in the Netherlands, Switzerland, Hungary or Romania, every sailing is the middle leg of a longer journey — CruiseAway books the flights and hotels either side so it all arrives as one itinerary.
Viking Sigrun offers a wide spread of dining venues, from an included main restaurant to speciality options with cover charges, giving guests genuine choice at every meal.
The Restaurant is the heart of onboard dining, with floor-to-ceiling windows framing the river as it passes and a menu built around regional specialities and timeless classics — included in your fare. Alongside it, the World Café runs open kitchens with live cooking, international dishes and premium sushi and seafood; step outside to dine on the Aquavit Terrace®, where the riverbank becomes your backdrop. The Pool Grill keeps things casual with freshly prepared dishes and a salad bar right by the water.
For afternoon breaks, the Wintergarden serves complimentary afternoon tea — finger sandwiches, scones, pastries and international teas beside the main pool — while Mamsen's®, tucked into the Explorers' Lounge, dishes up Norwegian specialities from breakfast through to dinner at no extra cost, a nod to the Hagen family matriarch behind the Viking brand.
Those seeking something more refined can reserve at Manfredi's Italian Restaurant®, where an Italian trattoria atmosphere and à la carte pricing await, or at The Chef's Table, which pairs a multi-course tasting menu with sommelier-selected wines. The Kitchen Table is an interactive culinary experience drawing on local ingredients and cooking techniques — check at booking whether it is included or carries a reservation fee.
Viking Sigrun's social spaces are varied enough to suit every mood, from a lively jazz lounge to a quiet corner with panoramic river views.
The Living Room is the social hub of the ship, where Viking Resident Musicians play live classical music and curated activities fill the day. Entry is free; beverages are charged separately. Torshavn® — named for the Faroese capital — brings a golden-age jazz lounge atmosphere, ideal for cocktails after dinner. The Atrium and its Clinker Bar draw their design from ancient Nordic longships, making even a quiet drink feel like part of the journey.
The Explorers' Lounge rises two storeys, with panoramic windows that frame the passing scenery; it is the spot to watch dusk settle over the river with a drink in hand. In the evenings, the poolside screen at the Main Pool shows films under the open sky.
The Theater seats up to 450 guests for lectures, films and TED Talks, and can be divided into two HD cinemas depending on the programme — all at no extra cost.
The Nordic Spa is open to all guests at no charge, with a sauna and snow grotto for unwinding after port days; individual treatments carry a separate fee. The Fitness Centre is complimentary, equipped with treadmills, elliptical machines and exercise bikes, plus open space for yoga and Pilates. The Hair Salon offers cuts, styling and the Royal Nordic Hair Ritual, charged separately.
On deck, the Sports Deck provides a running track, boccie, mini golf and shuffleboard — all included — with guided classes such as yoga charged separately. Two pools round out the offering: the heated Main Pool with Retractable Roof keeps swimming available in any weather, while the Infinity Pool features floor-to-ceiling windows and a hot tub, giving guests the sensation of floating within the destination itself.
Viking Sigrun's 95 cabins run across three principal grades, each sleeping two guests. Full details and deck plans are available on the Viking Sigrun cabins and deck plans page.
The Standard Outside Stateroom E (13.9 m²) suits guests who want a direct connection to the passing scenery: a half-height picture window brings in natural light and a constant view of the river without sharing the open decks. Step up to the Veranda Stateroom A (19.0 m²) and you gain a full-size private veranda — your own outdoor river space for morning coffee or evening reflection that inside and French-balcony cabins simply don't offer.
At the top of the range, the Explorer Suite ES (41.3 m²) wraps a private veranda around three sides of the cabin for 270-degree views — the best sightlines on the ship, and the most outdoor space of any grade. On a river cruise where the scenery is the attraction, that access to the outside world is the suite's defining feature.
Current sailings on Viking Sigrun run along the Rhine and Danube rivers, as well as wider Western Europe itineraries, departing from four cities. From the Netherlands, Amsterdam cruises are the most frequent departure point. Swiss sailings depart from Basel, while Central and Eastern European itineraries set off from Budapest and Bucharest.

Because all departure ports require flying from Australia, CruiseAway treats every Viking Sigrun sailing as the centrepiece of a complete trip. Our DreamAway Packages combine the cruise with return flights, pre- and post-cruise hotel nights and transfers — everything confirmed on one booking, with one contact if anything changes.
Our cruise experts know Viking River Cruises' ships and fare structures in detail — they can walk you through the difference between cabin grades, explain what is and is not included in each fare tier, and make sure the package suits how you actually travel. CruiseAway's Best Price Guarantee means you don't need to shop around once you've found the sailing you want. And because every Viking Sigrun itinerary involves flying to Europe, our DreamAway Packages are particularly well suited here: flights, hotels and transfers sit alongside the cruise on a single itinerary, so there's nothing left to arrange yourself.
Viking Sigrun carries up to 190 guests, supported by a crew of 53. The relatively small guest count is central to the river cruise experience: narrower vessels and fewer passengers mean more personal service and access to ports that larger ships cannot reach.
It depends on how much time you expect to spend in your cabin and how much you value private outdoor space. The Standard Outside Stateroom E gives you a river view through a picture window at 13.9 m². The Veranda Stateroom A (19.0 m²) adds a private veranda — worthwhile if you want to sit outside without going to the shared deck. The Explorer Suite ES (41.3 m²) offers a wraparound veranda with 270-degree views, which on a river itinerary where scenery is constant makes a material difference to how you experience the journey. See the cabin and deck plans for layout details.
The Restaurant, World Café, Pool Grill, Aquavit Terrace, Mamsen's and Wintergarden afternoon tea are all included. The main pool, infinity pool, sports deck and fitness centre are included. The Nordic Spa is open to all guests at no charge, though individual treatments carry a separate fee. Speciality dining at Manfredi's Italian Restaurant, The Chef's Table and some experiences at The Kitchen Table carry additional charges, as do beverages in most bars and lounges unless you have a beverage package.
All current sailings depart from European ports — Amsterdam, Basel, Budapest and Bucharest — so guests travelling from Australia will need flights. CruiseAway can package these together through our DreamAway Packages, combining the cruise, return flights, hotel nights either side and transfers into one booking. Speak to one of our cruise experts for a full quote.
Sailings currently start from A$4,095pp* for itineraries departing from late September 2026. Prices vary by cabin grade, sailing length (up to nine nights) and departure port. Use our Europe cruise deals search to compare current availability and fares.
