Where do these sailings go?

Most September 2027 departures from Sydney stay in the southern hemisphere, with Australian waters drawing the largest share of sailings. After that comes the South Pacific, and for those after something more ambitious, one sailing heads all the way to Hawaii. Durations run from 3 nights up to 35, with a median around 9 nights — long enough to properly unwind, short enough to plan around work or school commitments.

Australia

The majority of sailings head along the Australian coastline, making these some of the easiest holidays to plan — no passport required, no long-haul flight, and you board right in Sydney. Whether you are local to Sydney or flying in from another state, a short domestic hop is all it takes to reach the ship. Itineraries explore the eastern and northern coastlines, taking in stretches of Australian waters that look spectacular from the deck of a cruise ship. If you have never cruised Australian waters, September is an excellent month to start — the weather is warming and the crowds have not yet arrived.

Keen to see more of the country by sea? Browse our full guide to cruises around Australia in 2027 for a broader selection of sailings.

South Pacific

A pair of sailings head out into the South Pacific, trading the Sydney skyline for island scenery. These itineraries suit anyone who wants tropical colour without a long-haul flight — the Pacific is practically on Sydney’s doorstep. Think turquoise water, relaxed island ports and plenty of time at sea to settle into holiday mode.

If you want to start planning around a specific destination, our cruises from Sydney to the South Pacific page has options across multiple departure windows.

Hawaii

One departure makes the long passage to Hawaii — a serious voyage for those who want a genuine trans-Pacific adventure. At 35 nights this is the longest sailing of the month, and it is one-way, finishing away from Sydney. See the section on one-way itineraries below for what to expect at journey’s end. Anyone who has ever wanted to cruise to Hawaii from an Australian home port will find this a compelling option; it is not a sailing you come across every season. More details are on our cruises from Sydney to Hawaii in 2027 page.

One-way itineraries: what to expect

Most sailings in September 2027 are round trips that return you to Sydney — convenient if Sydney is home, and easy to plan around if you are flying in. Two sailings, however, are one-way: one ends in Benoa, Bali and one ends in Perth (Fremantle). That means the voyage finishes somewhere other than where it starts, and you will need to arrange a domestic flight or onward connection to get home. Our team can sort that for you — flights, a hotel night in the disembarkation city, and transfers — so you are not left to piece it together alone. Just ask when you book.

Which ships sail from Sydney in September 2027?

Four ships are sailing from Sydney this September, across three cruise lines. Here is what each one offers.

Carnival Adventure

Carnival Adventure carries the most September departures of any ship this month, and it is built with Australian passengers in mind — fresh local produce, a laid-back atmosphere and activities for every age. Thrill-seekers can zip-line and climb above the deck; those who prefer a quieter pace can settle in for a movie under the stars. For families, Camp Ocean keeps younger guests entertained while adults claim a sun lounger at the Serenity Retreat, the ship’s adults-only deck space. It is a genuinely flexible ship: short breaks and longer voyages both work well on board.

Cabin grades on Carnival Adventure run from compact inside cabins right up to a flagship suite:

  • Inside cabin 4A — 15 m², sleeps up to 4, with a walk-in wardrobe and generous storage ideal for longer voyages.
  • Ocean-view cabin with porthole (PT) — 15 m², sleeps up to 4, with 2 round portholes letting in natural light on the quieter lower decks.
  • Balcony cabin 8A — 16 m², sleeps up to 4, with a private balcony accessed through glass bifold doors.
  • Byron Beach Club Presidential Suite (SB) — 58 m², sleeps up to 4, with an expansive balcony, dressing area and deluxe bathroom — more than twice the size of a standard balcony cabin.

Full deck layouts are on the Carnival Adventure cabins and deck plans page.

Carnival Splendor

One of Australia’s best-known fun ships, Carnival Splendor has been sailing from Sydney long enough that many guests are returning for a second or third time. The Punchliner Comedy Club is the social heart of the ship for evenings, while the waterpark keeps families busy during sea days. Adults who prefer peace and quiet have the Serenity Retreat to retreat to. Itineraries from Sydney this September cover Australian coastal waters and the South Pacific.

Cabin grades on Carnival Splendor:

  • Cloud 9 Spa Inside cabin (4S) — 16 m², sleeps up to 3, with priority spa reservations, unlimited thermal suite access and 2 complimentary fitness classes included.
  • Large Sea-view cabin (6K) — 30 m², sleeps up to 4, a full 10 m² larger than standard sea-view grades and noticeably more comfortable for longer sailings.
  • Balcony cabin 8M with large balcony — 26 m², sleeps up to 4, with 9 m² more space than a standard balcony cabin and a private outdoor area.
  • Captain’s Suite (CS) — 47 m², sleeps up to 5, the largest suite on board, with a separate bedroom and living area.

See the Carnival Splendor cabins and deck plans for full details. Both Carnival ships are operated by Carnival Cruise Line, which also has further 2027 sailings worth exploring.

Seven Seas Navigator

Regent Seven Seas Cruises brings a very different experience to the September programme. Seven Seas Navigator is an all-suite ship where the philosophy is simple: include as much as possible so there is nothing to think about once you are on board. Regent describes the experience as “The Most Inclusive Luxury Experience” — fares cover far more than the base cruise, and the ship’s smaller size means itineraries can call at ports larger vessels cannot reach, which fits well with Regent’s focus on immersive exploration. If you are weighing up this style of cruising, our Regent Seven Seas Cruises 2027 page has the full picture.

The Signature Suite (SG) on Seven Seas Navigator runs from 79 m² upward, sleeping up to 5, with a generous separate living area. Seven Seas Navigator cabin and deck plans are available if you want to see the layout before you book.

Grand Princess

Princess Cruises has one sailing this September aboard Grand Princess. The Princess app lets you order food and drinks from anywhere on the ship — cocktails by the pool, pizza in your cabin — without queuing at a bar or restaurant. On deck, The Sanctuary provides an adults-only space with sun loungers, light meals and open ocean views. Grand Princess also features Movies Under the Stars, where you can watch a film on deck under an open sky.

Princess Cruises offers 2 fare tiers for this sailing:

  • Princess Standard — the base cruise fare covering the sailing itself. The Princess Plus and Princess Premier packages are available to add separately.
  • Princess Plus — includes 4 casual dining meals per voyage, beverages up to A$15 each (with a daily limit of 15 drinks), MedallionNet® Max Wi-Fi, pre-paid crew appreciation, unlimited digital photographs plus 3 prints, and reserved theatre seating.

The Grand Princess cabins and deck plans page has full grade and layout information. For a wider view of what Princess has on offer, the Princess Cruises Australia 2026–2027 season launch page and the Princess Cruises 2027–2028 season launch cover both seasons in detail.

Are there any discounts on Sydney September 2027 sailings?

Reduced fares do appear from time to time — on one departure the reduction reaches up to 4% off that cabin grade’s previously listed price. That is a modest saving rather than a headline deal, and it applies to a single sailing rather than across the board. The bigger win is usually choosing the right fare tier for what you actually want included: a fare that covers drinks, Wi-Fi and dining from the outset can work out better value than a lower base fare with add-ons on top. Our cruise experts can walk you through the numbers so you know exactly what you are getting.

How do I get to Sydney to board?

All sailings depart from Sydney. If you live in Sydney, you can head straight to the port — no flight, no airport, no early morning rush. If you are coming from interstate, a short domestic flight into Sydney is all you need; it is a straightforward journey from any Australian capital, and far simpler than flying long-haul to reach a foreign embarkation port.

Note that sailings depart from 2 Sydney terminals: Sydney, Australia and White Bay (Sydney). When you receive your booking confirmation, check which terminal your ship uses, as they are in different parts of the harbour. If you are driving, parking options are available near both terminals. Our team can also arrange transfers from the airport or from your hotel directly to the right pier.

For the 2 one-way itineraries ending in Benoa, Bali or Perth (Fremantle), a domestic flight or onward connection home is needed at the end of the voyage. We can book that alongside your cruise so the whole journey is on one itinerary — just let us know when you enquire.

Make it a holiday

A cruise is the centrepiece, but the trip often involves more. Whether you are flying in from interstate the night before, spending a couple of days in Sydney before you board, or continuing somewhere after a one-way sailing, CruiseAway can pull it all together. Our DreamAway Packages combine your cruise with flights, hotels, tours, transfers and insurance — as a set bundle or a fully custom itinerary built around how you want to travel. One booking, one contact, one less thing to worry about.

We are cruise specialists, which means our team understands the difference between cabin grades, fare inclusions and shore excursion options in a way a general travel agent may not. That knowledge is especially useful when you are choosing between, say, a Princess Standard fare and Princess Plus — or deciding whether an inside cabin or a sea-view cabin suits a 9-night sailing. Talk to our cruise experts and they will help you find the right fit.

Which other months can I cruise from Sydney?

If September does not quite work, Sydney is an active departure port across the year. January 2027 departures from Sydney include a strong selection of summer sailings, and the Christmas 2027 sailings from Sydney are worth looking at if the end of the year is more convenient. For a full view of what is available from the port across 2027, browse all cruises and filter by departure port. If Brisbane suits you as an alternative embarkation point, Princess Cruises from Brisbane in 2027 has options on the same cruise line sailing this September.

Thinking further ahead? The full 2027 cruise programme covers every departure month and region, and our team can flag sailings that match your dates and budget before they sell out.

*Prices are per person based on 2 people sharing, and are subject to change. This price is not kept up to date and therefore does not reflect live pricing and availability. Prices and any discounts shown were checked on 14 October 2026.

Where a discount is shown, it is a reduction from the price previously listed for that cabin grade on that sailing, not a comparison between cabin grades or against a brochure rate. Discounts and prices shown are not kept up to date: the reduction available now may be smaller, or may have ended, and prices may have changed.
