Destinations You’ll Explore

One of the biggest drawcards of Diamond Princess is its destination focus. Many itineraries explore Japan in depth, offering access to ports and cultural experiences that are difficult to replicate elsewhere.

Sailings often depart from Yokohama or Kobe and include stops such as:

There are also select itineraries to Hawaii and Mexico, giving travellers more options when planning their next escape.

Special Diamond Princess Experiences

What truly sets Diamond Princess apart is its connection to Japanese culture. This is reflected not only in the itineraries but also in the onboard experience.

The Izumi Japanese Bath is a standout feature, offering a traditional-style wellness space with ocean views, hot pools and steam rooms. It’s a rare find at sea and a favourite among guests.

Festivals of the World celebrations bring destinations onboard, showcasing local traditions, food and performances throughout your journey.

Advantages

The itinerary was perfect and we saw heaps of cherry blossoms in every port. We mostly did our own tours, at a fraction of the ship tour cost and very easily, with no stress. The staff onboard the ship were professional, welcoming and helpful. The ship was constantly being cleaned and people encouraged to wash their hands. The food in the international restaurant was high quality, as was the service.

Weak Points

The tours on the ship were very expensive and of the 2 that we did, one was excellent and the other terrible, with half the tour cancelled and only 10% of the cost reimbursed. The smoking area was outside an entry door to the ship and was disgusting. We tried to avoid this area but as it was where the lifts and stairs were, it was difficult. The opposite side was the beauty/spa rooms. The food in the main eating area lacked variety and appeal. We saw people reach over to get ice and put their sleeves, arms and armpits on the top of the juice jugs. We didn’t have juice again.
