Basel is a swiss city located along the banks of the Rhine, in close proximity to both France and Germany. Basel is known for a combination of both old and new, with a substantial Old Town in addition to many urban areas. Many of the best-known attractions are located in the Old Town around the Marktplatz such as Basel's Rathaus amd the Palatine terrace, which lies on the Cathedral Hill.
