Istanbul is situated on the northern shore of the Marmara Sea between the Mediterranean and the Black Sea. Istanbul is only city in the world that is located on two continents. Haifa is Israel's third largest city and is located in northern Israel on the northern slope of Mount Carmel on the Mediterranean. Stretching along a desert strip between the sea and the mountains, Safaga is a port town in Egypt that sits on the coast of the Red Sea. Although historically a merchant port, the seaside town also has a small tourism industry. The many coral reefs in the area, especially off the city of Hurghada just 53 kilometres south, make the region a popular destination for scuba divers and snorkelers. The capital of Oman, Muscat is located in the northeast of the country on the Gulf of Oman.
