AmaSiena is an AmaWaterways river ship launched in 2020, built for unhurried journeys through some of Europe's most storied waterways. She carries up to 156 guests looked after by a crew of 51, and her 78 cabins are spread across a ship that stretches 135 metres — proportions that keep the atmosphere intimate without feeling constrained. Her sailings concentrate on the Rhine and the rivers of Western Europe, departing from Amsterdam and Basel.
AmaSiena offers two distinct dining experiences, both included in your cruise fare, so there are no decisions to make about where to spend money at mealtimes.
The Main Restaurant is the culinary heart of the ship. Open seating times mean you arrive when it suits you, sit where you like, and watch the river pass while you eat regional cuisine. It is relaxed, sociable and elegantly done. When you want something more theatrical, The Chef's Table delivers a multi-course tasting menu crafted in front of you in an intimate setting — a proper dining event, included in your fare with no supplement.
Between meals, the Specialty Coffee & Tea Station is a self-service fixture for complimentary coffees and teas whenever the mood strikes.
The Main Lounge is where the ship comes alive socially. The fully stocked bar, port talks and live evening entertainment all happen here; the space itself is included in your fare, with drinks charged separately unless you hold a beverage package. For outdoor time, the Sun Deck gives you unobstructed river views and, when conditions allow, the chance to dine in the open air. The Heated Sun-Deck Pool sits up there too, complete with a swim-up bar — a feature that makes a warm afternoon on the upper deck genuinely resort-like.
Quieter pursuits are well catered for. The Library is a complimentary retreat stocked with books and games, and the Gift Shop carries souvenirs and regional keepsakes for those moments when you want to bring a little of the journey home.
AmaSiena takes staying active seriously for a river ship. The Fitness Center is open to all guests at no charge, equipped with cardio and strength-training machines (specialist classes carry a separate charge). The Walking Track on the Sun Deck lets you jog or walk in the open air while the scenery moves past. Ashore, the Complimentary Bicycle Fleet is one of the most practical inclusions on the ship: guests borrow a bike and explore each port at their own pace, with no guided tour required.
For something more restorative, the Massage & Hair Salon is on board for the duration; access is free and treatments are charged at the time.
With 78 cabins across a 156-guest ship, AmaSiena keeps things personal. Three cabin grades are available, ranging from a well-proportioned outside cabin to a suite with dual balcony access — full details and deck plans are on the AmaSiena cabins and deck plans page.
The Outside Cabin D, at 14.9 m², sleeps two and delivers river views through a full-width window — all the passing landscape without the premium of a balcony.
The Balcony Cabin AA steps things up to 21.8 m² and sleeps up to four. Its dual outdoor access — a drop-down French window and a full step-out balcony deck — means you can feel the river air without leaving your cabin.
At the top of the range, the Suite covers 32.5 m² and is the only category aboard to combine both a French balcony and a full outside balcony. That combination of dual outdoor access sets it clearly apart from any standard balcony cabin and makes it the choice for guests who want the most open connection to the river.
All current sailings operate in Western Europe, with the Rhine as the primary waterway. Itineraries run to up to 11 nights and depart from either Amsterdam in the Netherlands or Basel in Switzerland. Because every AmaSiena sailing departs from Europe, the cruise naturally sits in the middle of a longer trip. CruiseAway's DreamAway Packages handle exactly that — flights from Australia, hotels on either side and all transfers are bundled with your river cruise into a single booking, so nothing falls through the cracks. Our cruise experts know AmaWaterways fares and cabin grades in detail, and every booking is protected by our Best Price Guarantee. If you are weighing up cabin grades or comparing itinerary lengths, call us and we will work through it with you.
All AmaSiena sailings are operated by AmaWaterways. If you are also considering other ships in the AmaWaterways fleet, you may want to look at AmaBella, AmaCello, AmaVida, AmaReina and AmaVerde — each sails under the same line.
Yes. Every current sailing departs from either Amsterdam, Netherlands or Basel, Switzerland, so Australian guests will need an international flight to reach the embarkation port. CruiseAway's DreamAway Packages are designed for exactly this: we book your flights, any hotel stays at either end and your transfers as one joined-up holiday, so you have a single point of contact for the whole trip.
Both dining venues — the Main Restaurant and The Chef's Table — are included in your cruise fare, as are the Specialty Coffee & Tea Station, the Heated Sun-Deck Pool, the Fitness Center, the Library, the Walking Track and the Complimentary Bicycle Fleet. Drinks in the Main Lounge and spa treatments at the Massage & Hair Salon carry a separate charge unless covered by a package.
If river views matter most and you want to keep the cost down, the Outside Cabin D gives you natural daylight and passing scenery without paying for a balcony. If you want fresh air from your cabin, the Balcony Cabin AA's French window and step-out balcony both deliver that. The Suite is the only cabin aboard with both a French balcony and a full outside balcony — worthwhile if dual outdoor access is a priority and you want the most space on the ship. Our cruise experts can talk through the differences and current availability.
Current sailings run to a maximum of 11 nights, departing from late September 2026 onwards. The Rhine is the primary river, with itineraries also covering Western Europe and the Ijssel. Departure ports are Amsterdam and Basel.
Yes. The complimentary bicycle fleet is one of AmaSiena's most practical features — guests can borrow a bike at no charge and explore each port at their own pace, without joining a guided excursion. The ship's programme also includes expert port talks in the Main Lounge to help you plan each stop.
