AmaMaya at a glance

AmaMaya is a purpose-built Mekong river ship launched in 2024 and operated by AmaWaterways. She carries up to 120 guests looked after by a crew of 55, with 60 cabins spread across her 92-metre hull. That crew-to-guest ratio means personal, attentive service throughout your voyage. She sails exclusively in South East Asia, tracing the Mekong between Cambodia and Vietnam, with sailings currently departing from Kampong Cham and My Tho (Ho Chi Minh City).

Dining on AmaMaya

AmaMaya offers two distinct dining venues, both included in your cruise fare and open to every guest.

  • Main Restaurant — the culinary heart of the ship, with open seating times and regional menus enjoyed alongside river views. The relaxed, informal atmosphere makes it easy to share a table and conversation with fellow travellers.
  • The Chef's Table — an intimate venue where a dedicated chef crafts a multi-course tasting menu in front of you. The personalised attention and culinary theatre make it a genuine highlight, and like the Main Restaurant it carries no extra charge.

For something lighter, the Specialty Coffee & Tea Station offers complimentary self-service speciality coffees and teas throughout the day.

On-board life: bars, leisure and wellness

The Main Lounge is where the ship's social life unfolds — cocktails at the fully stocked bar, port talks from the destination team, and live entertainment in the evenings. Entry is included; individual drinks and food are charged separately unless you hold a beverage package.

Up on the Sun Deck, a heated outdoor pool with a swim-up bar gives the ship a resort feel, and the open space is also used for alfresco dining on occasion. A walking and jogging track circles the same deck, complimentary and open to all. Those who prefer a structured workout will find modern cardio and strength equipment in the Fitness Center at no extra charge, though specialist classes carry a fee.

Quieter moments are catered for too. The Massage & Hair Salon offers spa treatments and hairdressing at an additional charge, while the Library is a complimentary retreat of books and games whenever you want to step back from the activity on deck. A Gift Shop stocks souvenirs and essentials, and the ship's complimentary bicycle fleet lets you explore each port at your own pace — no guided tour required.

Cabins on AmaMaya

AmaMaya carries two cabin grades, both designed for two guests. Full layouts and deck positions are on the AmaMaya cabins and deck plans page.

  • Balcony Cabin A (23.3 m²) — a well-proportioned river cabin with a French balcony that opens to fresh air and river scenery without you leaving the room. Crisp views of the Mekong, close at hand.
  • Luxury Suite L (46.6 m²) — a full suite with separate living areas, offering genuine room to spread out across a space that is nearly double that of the balcony cabins.

Where AmaMaya sails

All current sailings navigate the Mekong through South East Asia, taking in temple towns, floating villages and the waterways of the Mekong Delta. Itineraries run up to 13 nights, with the majority departing from Kampong Cham in Cambodia and one departure from My Tho (Ho Chi Minh City) in Vietnam. Sailings open from late 2026, and there are currently four departures to choose from, with prices from A$3,149pp*.

Common questions about AmaMaya

When did AmaMaya enter service?

AmaMaya was built and launched in 2024, making her one of the newest ships in the AmaWaterways fleet. She was purpose-designed for the Mekong and reflects current standards in river cruise outfitting.

Which cabin type is right for me on AmaMaya?

If outdoor scenery from your own room is a priority, the Balcony Cabin A (23.3 m²) delivers that through its French balcony. If you want significantly more space and the comfort of a separate sitting area, the Luxury Suite L at 46.6 m² is the grade to consider. Our cruise experts can walk you through the trade-offs based on your budget and travel style.

Do I need to book flights separately?

No — CruiseAway can package the entire trip. Because all AmaMaya sailings depart from Cambodia or Vietnam, flights from Australia are a necessary part of the journey. A DreamAway Package combines the cruise with flights, hotel stays and transfers, so you make one booking and receive one joined-up itinerary.

What is included in the AmaMaya cruise fare?

Both dining venues — the Main Restaurant and The Chef's Table — are included, as are the Specialty Coffee & Tea Station, Sun Deck pool, walking track, Fitness Center, Library and the complimentary bicycle fleet. The Main Lounge is free to enter; drinks are charged separately unless covered by a beverage package. Spa treatments and hair services also carry an additional charge.

How long are AmaMaya itineraries?

Current sailings run up to 13 nights. Departures operate from Kampong Cham in Cambodia and from My Tho (Ho Chi Minh City) in Vietnam, with all itineraries routing through the Mekong in South East Asia.
