Meissen is a fairly large city in the German state of Saxony. The city is divided into 12 districts and has a population of nearly 30,000. The city is famous for its 'Meissen Porcelain', which was the first porcelain manufactured in Europe in 1708. In addition to this, there are many other things to see in Meissen, including several historic buildings from the Baroque, Gothic and Renaissance periods.

Dresden is the capital of the Free State of Saxony in Germany. It lies on the German Elbe river. The city is an internationally renowned art and cultural city and was listed as a World Heritage Site in the years of 2004 and 2009. Dresden is an absolute treat for cultural entertainment with its numerous theaters, operas and museums.

Saxon Switzerland is a hill climbing area and national park that is situated in around the Elbe valley south-east of Dresden. It is home to 1000 climbing peaks which attracts many tourists who strive for adventure and exhilarating outdoor sports .

The Elbe is one of the major rivers of Central Europe. The Elbe has long been an important delineator of European geography. The port of Hamburg, on the river Elbe, is the second largest port in Europe and tenth largest worldwide.

Bad Schandau is city on the Elbe river, in the Eastern Ore Mountains, in Saxony. The town is a renowned spa resort, bordering the National Park in Saxon, Switzerland. The historic hotels, St. John's Church and two Elbe bridges dominate the skyline. Tourists are advised to visit the national park and museum.
