The MS Lofoten has been sailing for Hurtigruten since 1964 and is one of the oldest and smallest ships in the fleet. The entire ship was renovated in 2003, though the special atmosphere and traditional style remain unchanged. All cabins on board offer guests a pristine Scandinavian comfort.
Both a restaurant, bar and café can be found on the salon deck, where one can pass the time drinking coffee, tea or cocoa in a cosy environment. The cuisine on board can be compared to the Norwegian coastal landscape: natural, distinct and diverse. Guests may also choose to visit the lounge on the salon deck or the Panorama Lounge on the boat deck. The extensive wine and drinks list nicely complements the 3-course menu each day.
Entertainment and Activities
Highlights of Hurtigruten voyages are the exciting and diverse land excursions. The countless harbors visited by Hurtigruten ships are always happy to host walking trips and bicycle tours. Bicycles can be reserved and rented on board. The unforgettable salons and panorama decks are special features of this 'Old Lady'. Live music and dancing can also be enjoyed evenings in the bar area with performances from local choirs and musicians.
Relaxation and the enjoyment of nature have always been priorities with Hurtigruten. We therefore believe your time on board should be spent at your leisure. As the weather can be unpredictable at times, we advise all passengers to bring waterproof clothing. Gloves, scarves, hats, and warm layers of underclothing should not be forgotten, especially during winter months. Sturdy footwear and hiking sticks are recommended for land excursions. Among the most important items to bring are sunglasses, as ultraviolet rays reflected by ice and snow can be dangerous for the eyes.
Languages spoken on board are English and Norwegian, though German service and travel guides are also available.
