The Dutch city of Groningen is the capital of Groningen Province and has approximately 190,000 inhabitants. The city is located on numerous channels, including the North Willemskanal, Van Starkenborghkanaal and Eemskanaal. Groningen is now a major university town, the main building of the State University is an architectural work of art.

Emden is situated in northwestern Germany on the river Ems. With approximately 52,000 inhabitants, it is the largest town in East Frisia and Emden's seaport is an important trade center. Emden is known as the birthplace of comedian Karl Dall and Otto Waalkes and was in some "Otto" movies scene.

The university town of Oldenburg is situated in northwestern Lower Saxony and has about 160,000 inhabitants. Among the attractions are the State Theatre and Castle of Oldenburg.

Bremen is the tenth largest city in Germany, with a population of 2.4 million. The history of the city makes it an interesting destination for tourists. Popular tourist attractions include Cathedral St. Perti and the Altstadt (Old Town).

Minden is a city of about 83,000 inhabitants in the north-east of North Rhine-Westphalia. It lies on the river Weser, which intersects with the Midland Canal. Take a trip to the old town where you will find the Minden fortress as well as the Cathedral of St Gorgonius. Additionally, there are plenty of cultural and entertainmant opportunities within the city, among which the Minden theater.

Magdeburg is the largest city and the capital city of the Bundesland of Saxony-Anhalt. Magdeburg is situated on the Elbe River and was one of the most important medieval cities of Europe.

Potsdam is the capital city of the German federal state of Brandenburg and part of the Berlin/Brandenburg Metropolitan Region. It is situated on the River Havel. Around the city there are a series of interconnected lakes and unique cultural landmarks, in particular the parks and palaces of Sanssouci, the largest World Heritage Site in Germany. The Potsdam Conference, the major post-World War II conference between the victorious Allies, was held at another palace in the area, the Cecilienhof.
