About Spectrum of the Seas

Spectrum of the Seas is another ship in the Royal Caribbean’s amazing Quantum Class. This one has been especially designed for Far East explorations. Get on board in Singapore and discover ports like Penang and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Phuket and Bangkok in Thailand and Ho Chi Minh and Nha Trang in Vietnam.

Spectrum of the Seas features quite a few innovations when it comes to onboard dining and entertainment. Kids can get their snack on at the Splashaway Cafe, while adults enjoy a great range of Asian dishes at one of the ship’s new venues: Teppanyaki, Noodle Bar or Sichuan Red. Discover the virtual world of music and sound-glyphs at the Bass Bouncer and sing away at the karaoke-style venue, Star Moment.

You will also find all your favourites on board the Spectrum of the Seas, like the Windjammer Cafe, Chops Grille and Jamie’s Italian by Jamie Oliver.

Life On Board

Explore the best of Asia on board the spectacular Spectrum of the Seas. Set sail in Singapore and discover the cultures of China, Vietnam, Taiwan, Malaysia and Thailand. Enjoy a short getaway of 3-5 nights, or set off on a longer journey of 7-12 nights. Departures from Yokohama (Tokyo) will take you on a tour around the gems of Japan. Visit the iconic Mt Fuji in Shimizu and watch the ash billow out of Sakurajima, the active volcano in Kagoshima. Other ports include Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam and Manila in the Philippines. You will be cruising in the company of adventurous families with kids, couples and singles aged 30 to 50.

Accommodation

Enjoy spa-like comfort, elegant design and modern amenities whatever cabin category you book. Go with the budget-friendly Virtual Balcony Cabin, where real-time outside views appear on your very own full-definition 80-inch screen or choose one of the real Balcony Cabins, order room service and dine with spectacular sunset views. For something more exclusive, book one of the Suites and be part of the Suite Club. Dine in one of the private dining rooms and get access to the Balcony – an outdoor space with the best ocean views on board. The Ultimate Family Suite is perfect for big groups and boasts fantastic features like a slide from the top floor to the bottom, a private cinema and sea views from the Master Bathroom.

Food & Drink

The ship is home to seventeen different eateries, some of which are exclusive. Feast on authentic Asian flavours at Sichuan Red. You will have to pay a little extra as this is a specialty restaurant but it is well worth it for the beautifully prepared dishes, fantastic outside views and the fact that you won’t find this one on any other Royal Caribbean ship. All the old favourites are also there, the Windjammer with its international specialities, Sorrento’s delicious pizza and the fresh rolled sushi at Izumi. Satisfy your sweet craving with decadent French confectionary at La Patisserie and take away a picnic at the Café @ Two70 to enjoy anywhere on the ship.

Entertainment

Days at sea will go unnoticed between learning a language, taking dance classes, riding waves at FloRider and getting drenched at Splashaway Bay. After an active day of port exploration there is nothing better than a relaxed evening watching a spectacular production and there are plenty to choose from on the Spectrum of the Seas. Travel along the legendary Silk Road from Rome to China, enjoy the superhero action of the Effectors, or admire the Showgirl’s choreography and video effects. Go up 100m above sea level in the North Star – an observation capsule providing you with magnificent 360 degree views. The revolutionary technology behind the Virtual Concert and the Expedition Two70 augmented reality adventure will amaze you.

Health & Fitness

Take advantage of adult-only time at the Solarium, a retreat located at the top of the ship for spectacular views. Enjoy these while going for a swim or relaxing in a whirlpool, whatever the weather, thanks to the crystal canopy that keeps the warm in. Continue straight to the Vitality Spa for one of the numerous massages, facials, body wraps and more that are performed using only premium beauty products. Go for a work-out at the Fitness Centre and you’ll come out feeling energized. You’ll have some of the most innovative equipment at sea at your disposal, plus a great array of fitness classes on offer. Professional instructors are there to help you have fun and feel motivated.

Cruising with Children

Cruising with a baby, a toddler, a tween or a teen on board the Spectrum of the Seas is made easy through Adventure Ocean – an award-winning kids’ programme providing your little ones with buckets of fun. Join your 6-36 month old at Royal Babies and Royal Tots playgroups, or leave your 3-5 year old to be entertained at the Aquanauts group. Kids aged 6 to 8 are welcome to join the Explorers, while the 9 to 11-year-olds are very well catered for at the Voyagers club. All clubs feature fantastic age-appropriate activities like scavenger hunts, pyjama parties, sports tournaments and are looked after by a team of enthusiastic Youth Professionals.

Advantages

Staff were very good and ship was clean.

Weak Points

Trips were not representative of the country. Fish markets were prominent in all the trips. Ratio of nationalities were very surprising. Wish I had researched this before booking. Chinese very rude.

Sail: 9.2.2025

Advantages

Calm waters, good food, drink and excellent staff.

Weak Points

Trips were expensive and poor, lots of complaints from others. Entertainment could have been better, for example the elements band had good musicians and singer but dragged out every song to 10/15 minutes and choice of songs were unfamiliar to us.
