As the seat of the Council of Europe, the European Parliament and the European Court; Strasbourg is one of the most important centers of the European Union. The town has many interesting landmarks of note including Niederwalddenkmal, a commemoration of the end of the Franco-Prussian War, which invites spectacular views of the city. Nowadays Trier is a port city and has a history of over 2000 years and is the oldest city in Germany. Some fantastic Roman buildings are to be seen here! Some special recommendations include the St. Peter Cathedral and the adjacent Church of Our Lady. Benefitting from its geographical position, Trier has a history as a flourishing trade city.
