Introducing self-confessed cruise-connoisseur and lucky winner of our Selfie and Sail competition, Anna Laurie!

Anna just returned from a 9 night cruise on board the Carnival Spirit, where she was able to redeem her prize of $500 onboard credit. She couldn’t wait to share some of her cruise highlights and favourite selfies with you, from sail away to snorkelling and relaxing at-sea days. Thanks Anna!

Selfie and Sail away

Embarkation day is a buzz! The first sighting of the ship as you arrive at the Sydney Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay is amazing…. it’s sooooo huge! We arrived after 2pm and the boarding process was super smooth and quick. Before we knew it we were on board and ready to explore. The Carnival Spirit was the very first cruise I ever went on, back in November 2014. I’ll never forget it, and being back on board was like coming home!

The Empire Restaurant

Eating at the restaurant is more than just the yummy food…. it’s an experience in fun! Desi, the best and loveliest Maître ď on the high seas, makes sure everyone feels welcome. Her wonderful personality, with her “Hellooooooo beautiful people”, along with theme nights and “Showtime” by her wait staff make dinners extra fun each evening.

Relaxing on Sea Days

I’m pretty easy to please on sea days and my absolute fave thing to do is lazing in the Adult zone – oh, the serenity!

Meeting fellow Cruisers

One of the best things about cruising is how friendly and approachable everyone is. By the end of the cruise it really feels like you’re all one big happy family.

Onshore Tours

Shore days are definitely a highlight. There’s always so much on offer that it’s hard to choose! For me it’s always about the snorkelling and that glorious aqua blue South Pacific water. My favourites this time? The luxurious Meriden resort at Isle of Pines, snorkelling in Lifou and Mystery Island and swimming with turtles in Noumea.

Meeting the locals

When I go ashore one of the things I love the most is meeting the locals. They are so friendly… and they all looooove Selfies too!

Towel animals are synonymous with Cruising!

Who doesn’t love a towel animal? Everyday your room steward leaves a surprise in your freshly cleaned room! Finding out which animal is sitting on your bed, or perhaps swinging off your cabin ceiling, is just part of the everyday fun on Carnival Spirit.

Night time entertainment

There is so much on offer, that your only problem is actually finding time to sleep! There is so much choice, like dancing to the Rock band in the Red Frog Pub, singing along around the grand piano in the Shanghai Piano bar, rocking theme parties on Lido deck, checking out the awesome Pharoah’s Palace or having a good laugh at The Punchliner comedy club. The Punchliner is hugely popular, especially with the 18+ crowd. It’s definitely the highlight of the night! It was fun to wander back to the cabin still laughing from the 2 comedy acts of the evening. Laughter really is the best medicine!

Hope these selfies have whet your appetite for some cruising fun (if you’d like to see more of Anna’s amazing cruise pics, check out her instagram @anna_laurie)! Why not enjoy snapping your own cruise selfies? Give CruiseAway a call and book your dream cruise today.
