Destinations

Ships such as the MS Fram sail from the coastal city of Bergen in western Norway to untainted locations such as the Arctic Circle, Iceland, Greenland, the Faroe Islands, the Orkney Islands and Kirkenes. Hurtigruten takes advantage of the drastic effect the seasons have on the landscape of these areas and plans trips accordingly. Don’t miss out on spectacular displays of the Northern Lights, visiting the Land of the Midnight Sun and exploring the winding fjords of these bitter seas.

Often described as the “world’s most beautiful voyage” Hurtigruten allows passengers to connect with nature aboard one its majestic ships. These modestly-sized ships facilitate true cultural immersion as they can get much closer to the coastline where passengers can disembark at one of the 34 ports Hurtigruten visits and have authentic cultural experiences. With Hurtigruten it is also possible to venture further afield to remote locations such as Spitsbergen, and even Antarctica!

Cuisine

The foodies among you will not be disappointed with the selection of authentic restaurants and sumptuous dishes abord Hurtigruten vessels. The established chefs aboard these acclaimed vessels achieve culinary perfection every time by reflecting the culture of the current destination in their dishes. This charming touch is not just for show as 85% of the food on-board comes from local suppliers.

As the landscapes of Norway change dramatically with the passing of the seasons, so too do the menus, with Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter bringing unique dishes and specialties.

Accommodation

Hurtigruten describes its accommodation as akin to a “home on the water” and they offer a wide selection of stylish cabins which vary in size and location. Each of the 11 ships has outside cabins which have windows with beautiful views as well as cabins containing portholes for a more traditional feel. All suites have a cosy seating area with a TV for your use.

Every ship in the fleet (with the sole exception of the MS Lofoten) has at cabin(s) specially equipped for disabled passengers.
