7 Night Cruise sailing from Nice to Valletta aboard Sea Cloud.
SEA CLOUD's life story is more thrilling than some novels. She was built in 1931 in Kiel at the request of a Wall Street broker. It was his wife, Lady Marjorie Post, who shaped the SEA CLOUD's character.
After the ship's sale in 1955, there were several dark chapters in the history of the once glamorous private yacht - until she was bought in 1978 by a group of Hamburg-based shipowners and businessmen and given a new life.
The SEA CLOUD is truly a queen of the seas. Since her construction as a private yacht in 1931, her elegant appearance and magnificent interior have inspired awe.
Today the four-masted barque is at home on the world's oceans as a cruise ship extraordinaire. Those who have sailed with her in the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, or perhaps across the Atlantic, return to her again and again.
Her special charm is simply irresistible !
Highlights of this cruise:
Nice
Nice is a city in southern France located on the Mediterranean coast, between Marseille and Genoa. The city is a major tourist centre and a leading resort on the French Riviera (Cote d'Azur).
Nice's old city clusters against Colline du Chateau, a romantic cliff fortified centuries before Christ. Cars are forbidden on the old city's winding, cobblestone streets that are so narrow their rooftops crowd out the sky. Cafes occupy weathered 17th- and 18th- century buildings and outdoor markets crowd the old town's streets and Venetian-style squares.
Nice is a city of many public squares; Place Massena is the main city square, others include Place Garibaldi, Place Rossetti, Place du Palais and Cours Saleya. There are also museums of numerous types, a number of historical churches and the Nice Observatory.
Bonifacio
Bonifacio is a town and commune near the southern tip of the island of Corsica, in the departement of Corse-du-Sud, France. It is located directly on the Mediterranean Sea, separated from Sardinia by the Strait of Bonifacio.
Bonifacio is split into two sections. The vieille ville (old town), or la Haute Ville (the Upper city, where most inhabitants live), on the site of a 9th century citadel. It is situated close to beaches and is the gateway to the Lavezzi Islands.
Lipari
Lipari is the most developed and populated of the Aeolian islands, located about an hour from the north eastern corner of Sicily. Mt Chirica towers above the town, providing extensive views, and where the museum houses the best collection of neolitic culture in the world.
Below lies the picturesque harbour, the Marina Corta, a popular place to sit at one of the outdoor cafes and watch the hydrofoils come and go. The historic buildings around the harbour house cafes and coffee houses which are popular with visitors to Lipari.
Valletta
Valletta and its suburb town of Floriana are perched on the steep Sciberras peninsula jutting out into Malta's two deep natural harbours, Grand Harbour and Marsamxett Harbour. Valletta is the Islands' fortress city. Founded by the Knights of St John in 1566, it is known as the 'city built by gentlemen for gentlemen' ; a 16th century architectural masterpiece.
Valletta is very much a working, capital city; a bustling cultural centre and the administrative and commercial heart of the Islands. Walking around Valletta, you'll come across an amazing number of historical sites, squares, courtyards, gardens and any number of cafes to visit. The city is a delight to shop in: narrow side streets are full of tiny shops selling antiques, maps, books, prints and jewellery.
