7 Night Cruise sailing from Mallorca to Cadiz aboard Sea Cloud.
SEA CLOUD's life story is more thrilling than some novels. She was built in 1931 in Kiel at the request of a Wall Street broker. It was his wife, Lady Marjorie Post, who shaped the SEA CLOUD's character.
After the ship's sale in 1955, there were several dark chapters in the history of the once glamorous private yacht - until she was bought in 1978 by a group of Hamburg-based shipowners and businessmen and given a new life.
The SEA CLOUD is truly a queen of the seas. Since her construction as a private yacht in 1931, her elegant appearance and magnificent interior have inspired awe.
Today the four-masted barque is at home on the world's oceans as a cruise ship extraordinaire. Those who have sailed with her in the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, or perhaps across the Atlantic, return to her again and again.
Her special charm is simply irresistible !
Highlights of this cruise:
Mallorca
Majorca is the largest island of Spain. It is located in the Mediterranean Sea and is part of the Balearic Islands archipelago. Like the other Balearic Islands, Ibiza, Formentera, and Minorca the island is a popular tourist destination.
Palma de Mallorca is the capital city of Majorca and a major tourist destination. It boasts a magnificent Cathedral, an interesting historic quarter, Arab baths and Bellver Castle and museum. Its beach is also the most popular on the island.
Valencia
Valencia is a charming old city and the capital of the Valencia province of Spain that is well worth a visit. It is located on the Mediterranean Sea approximately 4 hours to the south of Barcelona and 3 hours to the east of Madrid. Valencia is famous for its Fallas festival in March, for being the birthplace of paella, for hosting the 2007 America´s Cup, and for the massive architectural project by Santiago Calatrava called The City of Arts and Sciences.
There used to be a river running through the centre of the city but the river was redirected a while back and so now there's a beautiful park where the river used to be. This is a very nice place to while away any free time you have in the city on a sunny day.
Valencia has something for everyone, long beaches of golden sand on the coast, inland mountain ranges, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, golf courses and sailing lessons, culture and entertainment, holy shrines, exquisite cuisine, good business, interesting congresses and conventions.
Cadiz
The city of Cadiz is located on a peninsula protruding into the Bay of Cadiz, the Isle of Leon, separated from the mainland by a narrow and torturous channel, part of much larger Gulf of Cadiz. Very high and thick walls surround the city presenting a very picturesque appearance from the sea.
Cadiz is of typical Andalusian character. The old part of Cadiz, commonly referred to as the Old City (Spanish Casco Antiguo), is shaped by the individuality of the various quarters (Spanish barrios), "El Populo," "La Viña," or "Santa Maria." These areas offer a marked contrast to the newer areas of town.
While the townscape of the Old City is largely formed by narrow alleys leading into a number of plazas, newer areas consist of wide avenues and more modern buildings. In addition, the city is dotted with numerous parks with old giant trees supposedly brought there by Columbus.
