7 Night Cruise of the Galapagos Islands aboard National Geographic Islander.
A Galapagos cruise aboard the 48-guest National Geographic Islander offers an intimate platform for an expedition in this volcanic archipelago. A hallmark of the Lindblad Expedition experience, our team of three expert Naturalists and an Expedition Leader are always available to identify whales from the deck of Islander or tailor the day's hike to your preferred activity level. And her Captain is constantly on the lookout for opportunities to change Islander's course to pull alongside a rare whale shark or position the ship to observe a sea turtle migration.
We offer a multitude of options for exploring any Galapagos Island, including some shore landings before breakfast and costal explorations from Zodiacs and kayaks. We'll provide you with a properly fitting wetsuit and snorkeling gear that are yours for the expedition-no need to pack your own. Jump in and go snorkeling in deep water with sea lions, or join some members of our friendly expedition team in the shallows for practice. We have the resources to add depth to your experience - and every activity we offer on board is included in the price.
After a day of exploring. relax in one of Islander's hammocks stretched across the deck or take a massage in the LEXspa.
Day by Day Itinerary:
DAY 1- Galapagos/Baltra/Embark Ship
During lunch we'll sail to Baltra for a magnificent introduction to the wildlife of Galapagos. (B,L,D)
DAY 2- Bartolome and Santiago
This is an enchanting landscape where lava, mangroves and golden sand converge. Great walks, views and a chance to snorkel with penguins - a tropical oxymoron. Santiago provides us a chance to see the Galapagos fur seal, along with the opportunity to enjoy the best "tide pooling."
DAY 3- Santa Cruz
The epicenter of Galapagos administration as well as the Charles Darwin Research Center where we'll learn about their vital preservation work. We'll head up into the highlands to roam the moss-draped lush landscape where wild giant tortoises often forage.
DAY 4-5 - Isabela and Fernandina
Anchor off the picturesque port of Puerto Villamil. Walk the streets of this small town, visit the nearby saltwater lagoons, home to flamingos or simply stroll along a beautiful beach. Visit the tortoise breeding center which is jointly administered by the Galapagos National Park and the Charles Darwin Research Station. We'll also explore Isabela's caves and shoreline and search the waters for dolphins, whales, sea turtles and the elusive ocean sunfish - the mola-mola. We'll also investigate Punta Espinoza on Fernandina Island - the youngest island in Galapagos. It's marine iguana heaven, with Isabela's volcanoes as a dramatic backdrop.
DAY 6- Floreana
Champion Islet, just off the eastern shore of Floreana, is a fabulous snorkel site and home to a large colony of sea lions. There is nothing more delightful than an hour spent in the clear waters with these creatures! On Floreana, we may find flamingos, pintail ducks and various shorebirds. Hike to a lovely beach.
DAY 7- Espanola
See blue-footed boobies, sea lions galore, EspaƱola marine iguanas which develop particularly vivid coloration, and waved albatross exclusive to this island. Snorkel and stroll the island's lovely beaches
DAY 8- Baltra/Disembark
