One of the best parts of an ocean cruise is the great food, which is why the Rhapsody chefs spend so much time and attention preparing superb selections of Italian and International cuisine for your enjoyment. From morning till late, there are as many choices as desires . . . and it's all included in the price of your cruise. There is never a bill to take the edge off the pleasure of your meal!
Wake up to a continental breakfast in bed - or enjoy it poolside. And if your appetite demands more, then visit the restaurant or the Outrigger Café for your favourite fresh juices, cereals, pastries and traditional hot breakfast dishes. As with every other Rhapsody experience, the choice is always yours! Lunch too is enjoyed in the restaurant or on the deck in the fresh sea air.
DINNER IS AN EXTRAVAGANZA
Select from our gourmet dinner menu of international culinary masterpieces. You will be surprised by the flair which the Rhapsody's meals are created. Elaborate set displays will captivate you and heighten your appetite.
As for the wines, they are of the very best from Italy, France and South Africa. If you are not sure which would best compliment the dishes of your choice, the stewards will always be on hand to help you with your selection.
Your favourite Italian restaurant is open morning, noon and night. You're invited to a restaurant that has brought the best in Italian and international cuisine to the Indian Ocean. Although immensely popular, you don't have to book - all you have to do is arrange your reservation with the maitre'd.
Generally speaking, depending on the number of passengers the Rhapsody is carrying, there are two sittings for dinner. Arrangements for you to take your dinner at the first or second sitting will be made in the embarkation hall before boarding.
DRESS CODE
Please note that although daywear is casual, no bathing suits are permitted in the dining room. A buffet breakfast and lunch are available on deck should you prefer casual dining.
Children will NOT be allowed to wear 'healie' shoes on board for safety reasons. Nearer the time of the departure of your cruise, and together with your travel documents, you will receive information regarding planned 'theme nights' held on board, to ensure that you have the appropriate dress.
Tipping is a globally accepted way of thanking personnel who have taken care of you during your cruise. Gratuities are generally given to the cabin and the restaurant personnel on the last evening of your cruise. Tipping is at your own discretion and envelopes will be provided in your cabin on the last evening of your cruise for this purpose. The recommended amount is US 6 per passenger per day shared between the two departments.
Having a family holiday? It is important that everybody has the time of their lives, so the Melody offers a full programme of daily activities for kids between the ages of 4 and 12. Highly trained caring supervisors will keep your children safe and sound, entertained and amused. It's the perfect chance for you and your partner to relax and enjoy the romance of an ocean cruise!
A full youth program is available in the Starlighties Club from Day 2 of the cruise. Children between the ages of 4 and 12 will be accepted. It is with regret that children under the age of 4 cannot be accepted as they require individual attention. A communal babysitting service is also available for babies and children from 20h00 until 02h00 at a cost of US$3 per hour per child.
This service must be paid for in cash (US$ or Rands) directly to the babysitter.
